I wrote this much of my Chicana Studies term paper:

Borders are crossed not only physically, but also socially and metaphorically by Chicanas who have multiple social identities. These “border crossers” face many dilemmas in trying to deal with their social identities, and there are many disadvantages to this ability. However, there are also advantages to border crossing, which will be discussed in this paper and illustrated with examples from different sources, but specifically from Mary Romero’s article, Life as the Maid’s Daughter, which demonstrates border crossing’s many characteristics.
