After all, he preferred to be optimistic towards these sorts of things.
And from what he could tell so far, optimism was paying off. There was a warm breeze in the air that smelled faintly of the sea, he noted as he gazed out at the expansive beach. The sun hung in a particularly cloudless sky. It was almost like a scene off of a postcard. As if to add to the completely peaceful ambiance, he could hear the ducklings peeping loudly as Naoto tripped and fell to the ground--
Well. Almost completely peaceful ( ... )

The isolated beach they had found was perfect. The trip there had been fairly quiet. Naoto seemed lost in her thoughts, which was understandable, given what she'd said about her teacher. Hopefully they would be able to draw her out eventually.
He'd noticed the ducklings following them from the cave, or more specifically, following Naoto. He hadn't been keeping track of them, so he was a little startled by the sudden yelling and squawking. He turned and blinked for a second, then went over to gather up the ducks and keep them from climbing on Naoto.
"Anybody hurt?"

"I'm fine," she replied to both of them, giving Ky's hand a glance and then taking it after a long pause and getting to her feet. There was no point in being stubborn and pretending she was invulnerable to the world; both of her roommates had seen her in a miserable state already, anyway.
The ducklings peeped cheerfully, content to be with their "family", and Naoto turned her gaze towards the ocean, palm still resting in Ky's. It was still so strange to think that everything seemed so tranquil when she thought about what the island had been putting her through lately.
"... It looks like this spot will do, won't it?" She lifted her hand to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, even though she knew the wind would just tease it free again soo enough. "It's like we just completely abandoned civilization."

"It's very peaceful. I think it's a suitable location to relax for awhile," he said over the peeping ducklings. They appeared to be rather excited about traveling along with all of them. He was glad for it.
"No distractions," he added. "No monkeys or dingoes. No islanders making loud scenes. Just the three of us."
He could of sworn he heard Diri peep almost indignantly. He smiled faintly.
"Forgive me. I meant 'just the seven of us.'"

Ky blinked. There was damp sand clinging to his face.
"I... somehow doubt that was entirely accidental," he commented, but there was good humor in his tone.
He gave Naoto a questioning, yet somewhat amused look. He didn't wipe the sand off just yet.

There was another flicker of movement, and a handful of damp sand suddenly crashed into Naoto's section of wall. "Oh my. I have no idea how that could have happened."

Naoto glanced down at her pitiful wall, now with an additional lump that did nothing to enhance the look.
".... So you give my wall a tumor in return? I see how it is. In that case..." She scooped up a handful of sand, eyes glinting mischievously. "I think you'd better run before my hand accidentally slips again."

"A surprise attack?" he said with a slight smile. "I hardly think that's very fair at all."
