Yotsuba and Emptiness

The balloon feels sorta empty... Has everyone gone on a long trip and did they forget to come back?

... This chocolate is yummy! I got lots of candy to eat.

I'll share if there's anyone who wants some though!

((OOC: Too much candy for the five year old :())

[...did they get caught in the explosion?]

Have you seen anyone for the past couple of days in the balloon?

A...doctor for your teeth?

Daddy makes me brush my teeth so they're clean everyday! I don't need a doctor for my teeth? Why would you need one?

Teeth don't get colds!

Well, you know why you brush your teeth everyday?

So they can be clean right?

Yes. And do you know why people clean things? Like when we take baths and showers, or clean our house?

Is it so the dust fairy won't come and curse you? [Yes. Yes that was made up. But it sounds like a good explanation to her so]

...

No.

People keep themselves and their surroundings tidy because if things are too dirty, they will get sick. [Pauses. Wait. If he leaves it at that, she might go to the extreme.] Of course, a little dirt isn't bad and can actually be good for helping our bodies develop the ability to actually fight off whatever cold we get.

But keeping things relatively clean and tidy is good for us not to get sick in the first place. The same goes with your teeth. You clean them so they don't get cavities.

And cavities are when bacteria, the sort of stuff that gets us sick, get into your teeth and make them rot. When you brush your teeth, you get rid of the bacteria so it can't grow and do that.
