For you, those gems are associated with particularly negative feelings, am I correct? It would seem you have already thought of this, but allow me to place a fresh spin on it:

Here, money, wealth, and things to that degree mean nothing. Therefore, these gems would mean little in the way of material wealth. So, why not take what you have, and make it into something positive? These gems can mean so much more than mere monetary value; rather, since such is meaningless, why not make it sentimental value?

I beg forgiveness if I am in the wrong saying this, but why not make those gems into treasures you and those close to you value above all else? ♥ Granted, if it is a present from you with your feelings attached, it will be wonderful to them no matter what it is. So why not make it these gems?

It would be... a very sad thing, to have such beauty tainted by sorrow.
