It's time to kick it up a notch.

I've been very lax over the past weeks with any type of "Brass Captainly" duties. But this week I'm going to try somethings. Now, I'm not the greatest musician in the world, and quite frankly, I'm not very confident in my music teaching ability, but what I do know is how to look good on a football field. That is were I think I will be able to help out the most.

So starting on Wednesday and continuing through game day rehearsal. I'm going to be bringing a camera to rehearsal. I'll let the brassline know that I'll be looking for "a look" and I'll take some pictures and see if people are are actually trying to achieve said "look".

The Look = Strong, Relaxed, and Confident.

Three things are motivating me to take on this task: (1)The overwhelming lack of pictures of the UAB Band on the internet, (2)Is looking good on the field more important to you when you know a bad picture of you might end up on the internet, and (3) The season is kicking into high gear with 3 games in a row and then a exhibition. Look our best will be important. But you would think that people would always be trying to look their best. That's a whole 'nother rant that I won't be getting into. Looking all willy-nilly was fine when were just 100 members that only played at Home games and then went home. But we do parades, away games, and exhibitions in front of people who know what's wrong and what's right.

It's time to step it up.

Besides, after the show is over they say "Brass Captain- Frank James" over the stadium speakers. We gotta look good so I can advertise my services to local band directors. Teaching band camp, PAYS!
