Yes ladies and gents, as most of our computers do when they are having problems and about to crash, losing all of your existing files so you have to scramble in between glitches to save them onto other things or print them out, my computer sux! IT is always having problems..it's a problem pc. Ugh! Also, it was on while this Tropical Storm Cindy hit us head on, and that "improper shut down" kind of screwed with my computer even more, this is my first opportunity to write since my computer went all nutty, not because my computer is coming out of it's funk, but because I am at my wonderful friend's house, who has this great brand new and glitch-free laptop! So, the storm left a mark. we lost power for about twelve hours, which sucked, but we managed to salvage the perishable food items and in anticipation of a power outage, i turned the AC down to 70 degrees so I wouldn't be extremely hot that night or next day. BEcause of that terrible storm, our tree in the front yard is leaning tho! TEAR TEAR!
anyway, before the storm was the fourth of July...which was an extremely incredibly indescribably awesome! Well, on the third of July my parents and my boyfriend and I went up to mississippi to spend the night at my aunt's house. She lives in a quiet little town in the country, but not too country (no livestock). My boyfriend and I played frisbee outside in the rain - even though he hates rain, but I love it! - swam, ate barbecue, watched my cousins do cartwheels (they have the cutest little accents!), blew up fireworks, drove around the neighborhood, and laid on a hammock together looking up at the clear starlit night sky..which was beautiful. The next day we were sad to leave, but we painstakingly did and were really lazy when we got back to my house. My parents did random stuff around the house, and my boyfriend and I cooked dinner (ha!, fun) and then became "lazy" once again as my mom likes to say. We watched a movie and then went to the local park to watch a fireworks show, which was also beautiful. My boyfriend and I saw our friends there too. So, that pretty much describes my fourth of july weekend, even though it doesn't sound nearly as great as it was.
Well, it seems like i'm backtracking, but right before the fourth, the friday before actually, three of my friends and i decided to have our painting day. We painted original works of art, three abstract and two realistics (one of the abstracts was a group effort, and we all got down and dirty to create it!). They turned out great. we aren't avid painters or anything, but we wanted to try something new, and it was really fun. We decided to actually paint our finger/toenails with acrylic paint and paintbrushes with the band's name we were going to see that night - trey's room - written on them in paint. We had paint all over ourselves, and left most of it on for that night, it wasn't that noticeable tho, since the place was really dark. It was actually this new venue that had it's grand opening that very night that showcases new local bands and offers a place for them to practice. IT was really fun...but really really hot...200 ppl, close quarters. no AC, six small fans...need i say more. we met up with a whole group of our friends there and met some other people we knew as well. THe bands were really good tho, but the people i was with were getting antsy about the heat, so we left a little early to get ice cold frozen coffee. Then we decided to heat things up again by playing basketball at this guys house...the other girls and myself digressed though, and we decided to leave the sweating to the boys and play the cheerleaders. My boyfriend was working that night, but when we thought he was home, we decided to drop in on him. Some of the guys left and shouted crude comments out the sunroof of my friend's sports car as they drove off...real mature huh? I stayed by his house for a bit and then my overprotective mother almost immediately, as if she had a sixth-sense about where i was and what i was doing, picked me up to go home....
Recently my hometown, a suburb of new orleans, if i can call it that, just narrowly escaped a category 4 hurricane named Dennis. We didn't see any effects at all of the storm except a few showers and some wind.
That about sums up everything i wanted to relate...if i think of something else, i'll just write another entry.
night's out,
