Before I go any further, let me just say I apologise for any spelling errors or lack of coherency. I took some piriton this morning to combat hayfever and it is slowly killing me through excessive yawning and drowsiness. I have work this evening, and I am so not looking forward to it. I took Bert's Ben and Jerry's shift and now I am filled with regret.
So yes, films.
Remember the fear/love line in Donnie Darko? Trying to break everything down into two things that aren't really opposite? Casey Affleck's portrayal of the Robert Ford in The Assassination of Jesse James... was a wonderful example of a man standing simultaneously at both ends of that scale and his performance there made me a big fan of him. In Gone Baby Gone he once again plays a conflicted man, this time not sure of what's right and what's wrong. Gone Baby Gone is a very bleak film telling the story of the search for a kidnapped girl. Ed Harris is excellent as one of the investigating detectives while Morgan Freemen is, well, Morgan Freeman. This is a film you should go see; the very last shot is quite haunting.
Or, if you just want some mindless action, The Incredible Hulk is pretty good. Not excellent; it's no Iron Man, but it's still good. Edward Norton against Tim Roth - there was no way it could be bad. I like to give a little synopsis of the film in these review things, but if you don't know what Hulk is about, I don't think there's anything I can do to help you. Oh, Tony Stark turns up right at the end, to help set up the Avengers movie and there's nothing at the end of the credits.
I wish I knew when to give up and when to keep trying. Ambiguity is great in Casey Affleck films, but I could do with a clearer path in my life right now.
