You know what it's like to believe? It makes me want to scream

So, I've been thinking lately that maybe my brain stopped maturing once I reached age 12. I had a whole post written in my head around this idea, but I've forgotten most of it. Basically, the only thing scarier and more awesome than dinosaurs is girls. Also, nerf guns are pretty rad and I'm getting dumber, but I still rock so it's okay.

But yeah, Horton Hears A Who! is a bit of a letdown. I mean, after watching the last ten minutes of it a bunch of times and being pleasantly surprised by it each time I was expecting the whole film to rock pretty hard but Horton annoyed me. The character, not the film. I've gone out of my way to avoid Jim Carrey's brand of comedy so I don't get annoyed seeing him in good films like The Truman Show and excellent films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. So to have it sneak back at me in animated form is kind of unfair really. My mum didn't like Dr Seuss so she never read any of his stuff to us as kids, so I didn't grow up on this. Thus I can't comment on whether or not this film flipped the bird at anyone's childhood, but I think anyone who can put up with Jim Carrey - and to be fair it's a toned down Jim Carrey - should enjoy this film. The animation itself is pretty damn good, particularly the hair and water effects.

When you do an imdb search for, say, Jim Carrey, it comes up with a bunch of names and besides each one a film that they've been in. How do they decide which film to put? Is it the highest rated one? the biggest earner? Is it just selected by whoever creates the profile and updated by users as time goes by?

Tonight is God Is An Astronaut and tomorrow morning I have a Team Meeting. I took on a floor shift on Saturday night. I thought it was a close but apparently it just finishes at midnight. This is a shame. Partly, I need the money, but also I like floor closes. There's no rush on a floor close; you can't finish until all the screens are out anyway and you've got plenty of time to do everything that needs to be done. As long as you're working with someone decent and you don't have to be up early the next day, a floor close is one of the best shifts you can get.

Oh man, I had half a pack of minstrels left over from Horton, and I just ate them all while finishing Fable. My gut really doesn't like me at the moment, and Zoe is having a bath so I can't go just sit on the toilet for an hour. Minstrels are awesome. I'd take the discomfort for a bag of minstrels any day. Fable is also pretty cool. Except, I was playing a good character and there's two points in the game where you can get cool bonuses for killing first your best friend and second your sister. It was a real struggle to make myself throw away the Sword Of Mega Killings or whatever it was called. But fortunately that was the very end of the game and I'd already got married a few times, done most of the side quests, opened all the demon doors etc. I'm a completionist but not a complete completionist; I was happy to finish there.

Still, big sword would have been nice.
