Hey, did one of you forget to log in and reply to an old post of mine last night thanking me for something? If it wasn't one of you, I get the nicest spam.
I saw Son of Rambow (I'll forgive myself any spelling errors in this post, but drunk or not there's no excuse for broken html*) on thursday and the film is just a delight. Seriously, I never use the word delight, but I can't think of anything else to describe this. If the kids were slightly older and American, it would be a bromance, but they're not so it's just delightful. Two actors who's names I don't know and can't be bothered to look up play kids who are - way back in the eighties - inspired by the Rambo film First Blood to make their own Action movie. Things happen to test their newfound friendship but it's a happy movie so everything's cool.
So today I had my long dreaded first shift on the cinema bar. Everyone says bar shifts go so slowly and I was given nine hours. Guys, I don't know if I've ever done a shift that flew by so quickly. It was fake time though; everything was new and I was constantly learning so of course it would go quickly. Also, Matt, Jonny, Emma and Laura are all decent people to work with which again speeds things up. Once I'm more comfortable there, I'm sure things will slow down.
But yeah, it went well. I cooked food, served a wide variety of drinks and didn't break anything. A few people got overcharged for stuff and a few people got under while we figured out the tills, but none of them noticed so it's okay.
Also, different shirt.
If I don't get a shift on friday then tomorrow is my last day of work for over a week. Tuesday will be film day, wednesday through saturday will be Cult prep, with the Cult game taking place Saturday night. Then, after maybe a couple of hours sleep I'll be heading back down to Romsey for a few days to see Angels and Airwaves play the Southampton Guildhall. Then the friday after that is God Is An Astronaut, and the friday after that is the big Corie road reunion dinner. Guys, I have plans. Social plans. Lots of them. I don't understand it. That's just April though; when we hit May things will be back to normal.
I was going to suggest after the reunion meal we head over to the Waterfront, but I've just checked what's on that night and for fucks sake, Waterfront, every other club in Norwich plays shitty dance music; your sole purpose is to provide somewhere for the indie kids to go.
Having said that, I know Media do a goth/industrial/metal night. Maybe they do something a bit softer? This is something I should look into.
So when I get too drunk I can't sleep, and apparently when I can't sleep I teach myself sign language. This is not something that should go anywhere near the Things That Are Wrong With Me tag. I say sign language, I just mean the alphabet. And I already knew most of it; I just had to learn a few letters and discover that some I thought I knew where quite incorrect. It's been quite disappointing that in the two days since, no deaf guests have approached me at the cinema and required me to spell out S-W-E-E-T-O-R-S-A-L-T-P-O-P-C-O-R-N. I love the idea of sign language. Guys,
this comic is not the reason for my love of sign language, but it communicates my feelings in a way that is both awesome and dinosaur filled. Yes, I know that was a tautology.
*I'm not drunk now; that paragraph was written when I got back from the pub on friday. So were a bunch of other paragraphs, but they were drunken rambling. Typo free drunk rambling, I'll have you know.
