Take these words and write them down.

My copy of Exalted - Compass of Celestial Directions vol 2: The Wyld, which ai_wintermute totally bullied me into buying, arrived today. It is, in fact, the awesome. I have been using it to plan my upcoming Dragon-Blooded game, Pirates of the Wyld Tide, which is much inspired by The Pirates of Dark Water, possibly the best animated tv series ever made.

You know what the coolest thing about the Wyld is? It loves stories. It tries to shove everyone into stories. But because it's made of chaotic awesome, it gets them wrong and fucks you up in the process. You're forced into a confrontation with the big bad and only after you've beaten him do you meet the little old lady who confides in you his one weak spot. And all the while you're slowly growing wings made of iron.

Kurt Vonnegut died yesterday. Vonnegut is on my list of Authors Whose Stuff I Don't Actually Know That Much About But Really Ought To Read along with Jack Kerouac, China Mieville, Chuck Palahniuk, Franz Kafka and Hunter S. Thompson. I'd never really thought about Vonnegut himself. I guess I just assumed he was already dead. So learning of his death, I feel a very odd shade of sadness. Not knowing what else to do, I listened to the Appleseed Cast's song Kilgore Trout, because when someone great dies - even if you don't yet know why they're great - you should do something to mark their passing.

The writings of his that ohnefuehlen quoted in his post are simply wonderful.
