And...uh...I'm still mad.
So, Shangela had to sashay. I called it from the beginning of the ep - and to be quite honest, she was kind of making me mad for a while because she was kind of being...very unpleasant. Yeah, she was the underdog, but seriously, if she beat her chest any harder, her chestplate was gonna fall off.
Okay, that's not the thing. Last week, although I'd hate to admit it (as I am totally Team Heather and Ru is...totally NOT), even though Shangela beat out Carmen, I'd have still sent Carmen home that week myself. I think the judges placing Shangela in the bottom two were a warning shot, really - it was more a "Yara brought it in Week 9, Carmen didn't" thing.
After Shangela packed up her broke-down weave and thirsty hair, Ru was like, "Oh, by the way, girls, you can bring back one of the eliminated girls."
Me:
So, yeah. Running down the list of eliminated girls:
Shangela - Ugh. This is the hardest for me to decide; Shangela wants the win more than ANYONE on this season, especially since she came back from a humiliating elimination in Season 2 Week 1 (at the hands of her good friend Sahara, no less). And she fucking tries to WORK, even if her outfits (her weak point) aren't up to par. I've already stated that I don't like her, BUT...I'd be 50/50 on bringing her back. Since she's so polarizing, though, I don't think she'd be brought back anyway. She burned all her bridges by Week 7.
Carmen - Another difficult one, for precisely the opposite reasons for Shangela. Carmen's pretty much my hometown girl, and I do love a good dumb bimbo. But that's really all Carmen can do - she has a nice body, but she's a horrible performer. (Outside of the L4YL in Week 7, which was possibly the most amazing thing that will ever air on Logo.) While she is a Heather, I wouldn't want her back - and honestly, Manila threw her under the bus in Week 9 anyway.
Venus/Phoenix - Those are the two most difficult ones on basis of performance, since they went out so early. I'd almost want to see what Venus could do - judging by how Shangela went deep this year, I think she'd be dangerous if let back. Phoenix...I think would be less dangerous - ultimately, she went out on the weakness of her performance in Drag Queens In Outer Space. Unknown quantities, and not really what I'd want to see back.
Stacy - She was the only girl that was more broke-down than Shangela. And while I genuinely like her, I don't think she's America's Next Drag Superstar. (Also, while I appreciate big girls, she just does not know how to dress for her body.) She's likable, and I think Alexis would pull her back as a less contentious alternative to Shangela, but...nah, she's just too weak.
Mariah - Meh. Pass. She doesn't inspire feelings in me either way.
India - Another one that didn't really inspire me. Honestly, the one thing I remember about her is her Pink circa Moulin-Rouge outfit with the inflatable tits. Which leads me to...
Mimi - As Bobby once said, HELL TO THE NAW. Bitch is more ham than a Smithfield Farms factory. She was cute in Week 1, mildly annoying in Week 2, and I was cheering for her ass to get booted in Week 3. And if she comes back, so help me God I will find something else to do with my Monday nights.
Delta - If I had to bring one queen back, it'd probably be Delta. Yeah, Heather, but honestly - of the big girls, she was the most well-rounded (pun NOT intended). And I do want to see her back - I was kind of heartbroken when she had to face off against Manila in week 6.
I know - the problem is that Delta lacks confidence in herself. She doesn't need to take it to the Shangela, "FUCK ALL THESE OTHER BITCHES I'M THE QUEEN," level, but she really doesn't sell herself. I think that's part of what endeared her to me. But I do think she's competitive enough to make it interesting. If I were choosing, I'd send her back.
In all likelihood, though, I'd probably say that one of the bottom five girls would come back. I really think Manila was putting Carmen out of her misery last week, and Shangela and (to a lesser extent) Delta could be considered too threatening. Stacy is too inconsistent, and has even worse fashion sense than Shangela.
Venus and Mimi are probably two of the best cases to make - ultimately, those two went out over horrendous Main Stage behavior (and I don't see how they got that from Season 2 - yes, Tyra put a heel in Jujubee's eye and tore off Raven's wig three times in the final, but that was a sanctioned catfight and the third rule of Drag Race* is that you do not catfight unless Our Goddess Ru tells you to), but their challenges could have arguably not been bottom-two material. Arguably.
But man...I don't even know anymore.
