This is a black thing.
So, Christmas at my house.
All the younger people - that'd be...my cousins (my aunt's son, his girlfriend/friend/whathaveyou (not sure what's going on with them and not going to get into it here), my uncle's kids, me) and my mom are around the Wii we just got for Christmas. Jayden (I mentioned him before) is running around without pants saying "I AM."
AJ (I've mentioned him too), I think, is like, "You are...what?"
Jasmine (my cousin Brent's GF) is like, "He just IS."
I'm sitting there wondering what the hell is going on because I'm mildly buzzed (I'm a lightweight when it comes to alcohol - two glasses of Sangria and a small beer on the night).
So finally, my mom is like, "You are...what?"
Jayden replies - and I shit you not - "A black man."
First thought through my head (after the initial "MY GOD I LOVE THIS KID") was, "I HAVE TO PUT THIS ON LIVEJOURNAL."
As I'm typing this, though, I've realized that no one else on my flist is going to grasp just how awesome my cousin is. I'll just say this: My Uncle Tony taught the kid right, even if he can't keep his pants on. (The one surefire question when he comes over? "Where are Jayden's pants?")
That said, Brent NEEDS to stop telling stories about me. Granted, it was kind of awesome the holiday (I think it was Thanksgiving) I kicked Eric's ass, but AJ was just a glimmer in his dad's eye back then and JJ was in diapers. Not to mention THAT COLLEGE STORY HE KEEPS TALKING ABOUT. To hear him tell it, you'd think...
...actually...uh...I think that's the reason I'm getting my degree from NJIT instead of MIT. OOPS. (Coach Taylor, if you're reading this? If you remember that gangly geeky kid from TDC back in '03 that was kind of talented but really unfocused? One of the Jersey kids. HE DIDN'T WANT TO GO TO THE DIV III CHAMPIONSHIPS BECAUSE HE WOULD HAVE TESTED POSITIVE FOR POT. The only reason I'm saying this is because it's five years out and y'all can't prove SHIT. I should also add in that I think I was hung over for at least a couple of meets, though I don't think I was ever stoned for one...)
