...is it bad that I kind of
want this T-shirt now?
I mean, it'd kind of be shit-disturbing. But I live in New Jersey - and more specifically, go to college in Newark. Where one of the guys running for the Central Ward council seat has gone so far as to knock off Obama's campaign logo.
I shit you not. (The guy's name is Osborne, or something like that.) The signs look like edited Obama signs, except instead of the dark blue signs with the flag O and then white text that says "Obama '08," they're bright orange with a city-scape O and a street that goes the same way as the stripes.
I KNOW.
Meanwhile, there's like massive cognitive dissonance. Like, the McCain lawn signs around where I live outnumber the Obama signs like 5:1 (I've seen like...two or three Obama signs on my bus ride to school, and probably 10-15 McCain signs), but they're both outnumbered by the Lautenberg and Pascrell signs. (The McCains are outnumbered by like 3:1 on that count.)
...Lautenberg and Pascrell are both Democrats. (Frank Lautenberg's a senator, Bill Pascrell's my district's representative.)
And I don't even know who the contender for the House seat is (uh...some dude named Straten, I think?), because you see exactly jack shit about it. And according to 538, it'll be a cold day in Hell before Dick Zimmer gets anywhere near the Senate. (I have not even SEEN a single Zimmer sign. Or a bumper sticker. Or ANYTHING.)
In other news: I might be a bit of a hypochondriac, but I think I might be coming down with something. Not like my throat's hurting or I'm nauseous or anything, but mostly because I've pretty much been run-down all week. Like, pretty much every day I've been getting home and going to sleep - yesterday, I went home early because I wasn't going to make it through class. And got like 11 hours of sleep yesterday (okay, broken up since I fell asleep in the library, went home, slept for a few hours at home, and then got like 8 hours of sleep last night)...and I'm STILL tired.
I mean, like, the couple of days before, I only got like 4 hours of sleep at night (err...reading), but I also slept during the day. So I don't even know.
