Well, not really, but they're not that cheap.
Finally got a new pair of sneakers. My old Nikes were getting really beat down, so I decided to buy myself a new pair of kicks. So I went to the local Famous Footwear on Monday.
I kind of considered getting Chuck Taylors, since those are the new hotness now. All the Chucks I saw, though, were kind of a bit ostentatious for me.
I'd wear a pair of camo Chucks for novelty, but not for normal wear. Plus, even though it's 85 now, it's also October. And it's also New Jersey. Slogging home through the rain in a pair of canvas sneakers = not my idea of fun.
The Hurleys, DC's, and Vans kind of interested me, but I couldn't find any in the store that were in my size or that I'd wear. (I'm not interested in wearing art on my feet, kthx. My size 13 feet already stick out enough as it is.)
I finally settled on a fairly cool pair of Converses. (EV Pro 2K5, chocolate/white.) They're a skate shoe, which is kind of what I wanted. But they're not loud at all, go with literally EVERYTHING (okay, maybe not black jeans, but the pair I wear probably does go with them and a T), and look like they're fairly low-maint. Best of all, they're like a perfect fit already, and they just came out of the box.
I am so totally not a woman. STFU.
