summary; maybe she's seeing things.
Victoria's on the bus. It's nothing special, just a normal double-deckered bus with the huge number "129" on top. She knows she's going somewhere, somewhere where everything's going to get better. Where everything's going to be fine. She knows she's going to a better place, after all.
The bus ride isn't smooth, as the road is rough with a lot of potholes in its course. Whenever the bus goes over a bump, Victoria is jolted up and bounces up and down on her seat. It's not exactly pleasant, but the fact that Zhou Mi is beside her smiling and laughing makes it better.
"Ow," she whines after the bus has travelled over the tenth pothole. Zhou Mi pauses in his humming (she thinks he was humming 愛不單行* but she can't be sure, because his vocal chords don't exactly allow him to sing at a high volume) to stare at her. She pouts back at him, and after a second, his dazzling grin splits across his face again.
"If you were taller and had longer legs, you wouldn't be flailing around so much."
"That doesn't make sense! If you're tall, wouldn't your centre of gravity be off?" she retorts indignantly, punching him softly in the arm. However, he ducks to avoid her, laughing all the way.
"Your aim sucks, Qian!" Still, he leans over and puts his arm around her, humming another song from SJM'S new album. She thinks it's called 距離的擁抱* this time, the one and only solo in the whole album and it' Zhou Mi's. She loves his voice, the tender quality of it lulling her to sleep every night as he lies beside her and sings softly till she falls asleep. The melody of this song tugs on her heartstrings, though, calling up a distant bittersweet memory from the depths of her subconscious.
"Bleh," she pulls a face at him and turns away, smiling. As she stares out of the window, she notices that it's raining.
"Mi, it's raining," she says, poking him in the ribs.
"Ow," he replies lazily, but leans forward to look. "Don't you like the rain, though?"
"Why would I? It brings about so much inconvenience, especially at times like this when I don’t have an umbrella.”
“No,” he admonishes softly, curling his warm fingers around hers. “Look out of the window. Everything’s all blurry, you can see the leaves getting washed away and people running in the rain. You don’t know if they’re running for shelter or running for fun, but you know what? You just know. You know inside you that you want to be the ones running and dancing in the rain.”
“Yeah,” she whispers. “Maybe.” Zhou Mi was always like that, telling her about the little things in life. He always found a way to make her appreciate what she had, even if she was hitting rock bottom. His constant optimism always shone through the darkest days, acting like a lifeline to pull her through. She was grateful for him, because he was everything - a lover, best friend, inspiration and sunshine all rolled into one.
“Knew you’d see it my way,” he chuckles, leaning back and relaxing into his seat once again. Victoria laughs, looks out the window and watches the world go by.
Sometime after, the bus starts traveling through familiar territory. “Hey, Mi, we’re reaching home soon.” She says, shaking him awake from his light slumber. He wakes up immediately, coming to with a start.
“Yeah, and so we are,” he mutters, looking out. Victoria smiles faintly, stands up and presses the bell, signalling for the bus to stop. The bus slowly grinds to a halt at the bus stop outside an extremely familiar building, and the both of them walk out, hand in hand.

Everyone in the bus stares at the young woman who just got off at the bus stop outside the psychiatric hospital, walking into the building, laughing and talking to thin air.
