I originally wrote this years ago and dug it out recently only to realize I'd never gotten around to posting it here, as this comm wasn't on LJ at that time. So here's an oldie from me that some of you may have missed.

Summary: Xander makes a deadly error in judgment and only pieces the puzzle together when it is much too late.
Timeline: Post LMPTM, goes AU after that.
Warnings: Major character death, abstract stream of consciousness, and allusions of rape and/or possible non-con.
Notes: This is not at all a shipper fic of any kind although it does have allusions to the Xander/Anya romance and a budding friendship with Spike.
