"What do you mean you're not gonna ask him out?"
"It's not that easy Kibum." Key scoffed, flipping his dark brown hair to the side, so it wouldn't bother his eye.
"It is that easy: just walk up to him and ask," Key cleared his throat to imitate Jonghyun's "'Uh, hey Choi Minho.. wanna go out or something?' See? That easy. And you're the only that calls me Kibum."
"I like Kibum."
"I prefer Key." Jonghyun looked up from his milkshake that he'd been stirring with a straw to flash his friend with a smile. "What?" Key retorted, raising an eyebrow at his friend that had the goofiest smile in the world.
"Why in the world do you think I would want to ask Choi Minho out?"
"Because" Key leaned back in his seat, crossing his arms firmly across his chest as his gaze wondered past the window. "You're always with that giant alien."
Jonghyun chuckled at his friend.
"What is it now?!"
Past the chuckles, he managed to talk. "Don't tell me the Almighty Key is jealous?" Jonghyun's crooked grin made Key a bit flustered when he looked back over at his friend, forgetting entirely his remark.
"No." was simply all that he could manage out.
"Too bad." Jonghyun continued to stir his drink, the chocolate shake producing tiny bubbles at the top. Key studied the older boy's expression.
"What do you mean too bad?" Key nibbled bottom lip just the slightest, intrigued by what his friend just said. Jonghyun only continued to stir, as if he hadn't said anything. The silence lasting for a bit too long was annoying Key. "I said what do you mean too ba-"
"I meant!" Jonghyun cut him off, letting go of the straw but not looking up. "I meant... too bad, because it wasn't Minho who I was gonna ask out. It was you, Kibum."
Key, confused, surprised, and flustered all at once, sat speechless. He...
"But.. you spoke about the 'mysterious boy'" Key made quotations with his fingers for extra emphasis, " like the most wonderful thing in the world. How could that guy whom you always smiled about and never shut up about.. be me?"
Jonghyun smiled widely, looking up and into his friend's eyes warmly. Key blushed, staring back into his dark chocolate colored eyes that seemed to take the light rays into its advantage to make them shine better. Key stared at him. They'd been friends since forever, friends and only friends. And now.. Jonghyun wanted to ask him out?!
"Yeah," His steady voice and tone brought Key out of his thoughts that were running at 100 miles per sec. "You are that guy that I kept telling you about. That guy that has been driving me crazy for the past couple months. You." Jonghyun cleared his throat. "So Kibum, taking great advice from an amazing friend, will you go out with me?"
Jonghyun's pale cheeks were suddenly turning the lightest shade of pink, his hands fumbling with the straw once again. Licking his lips nervously, he watched his friend stare back. Jonghyun pressed his lips together as Key slightly opened his mouth to give him the answer he so longed for.
