Danny bit his lip, turning his phone off and setting it on his desk. His fingers idly twirled it around in circles as he leaned back in his chair, lost in thought. The weekend had been too short, though he'd known it would be. It always was. At least he had his business trip coming up with Montana to take his mind of what happened.. and what happened. It'd been different, though, and Danny still couldn't put his finger on why.
Saying goodbye hadn't been easy. Maybe that's why he'd avoided saying it in the first place. It just wasn't his thing. He and Montana had driven Flack to the station, hugged and made Don promise to come back soon. Which he'd better, or else Danny was sending Lindsay to NYC to go get him. And then, just before Don had left, he'd leaned in and whispered into Danny's ear something about not fucking up what he's got. Something he wasn't planning to do, at least not intentionally. He enjoyed being with Lindsay. Liked it a lot. He missed having someone to talk to about it all, though. Maybe someday..
And then there was the dog. Granted, Rex was an okay type of dog, but Danny really didn't like feeling he was going to get attacked for breathing wrong. Whatever. He'd get used to it, as long as the animal didn't steal all his time with his woman. He laughed to himself, his fingers stilling on the phone as it began to ring. Clearing his throat, he flipped his cell open. "Messer."
