Lindsay's apartment, ass-early on Thursday morning
The phone was ringing. Driving him nuts, and Danny knew it was his and not Lindsay's. Growling softly, he peeled himself away from Montana and answered in a low voice. "'lo?" Great, there'd been an emergency, which meant there was a scene, which meant he'd be off to work with only three hours of sleep after coming home late last night.
He hung up, snapping the phone off as he felt Lindsay shifting against him. "Go back to sleep, too early for you," Danny whispered, dropping a kiss to her temple before untangling himself and making it out of the bed. Hell no, he didn't want to leave now when it's cold and dark and he had a willing woman in his bed. But if he said no.. well, he needed that promotion in order to keep seeing Lindsay like he was now. This was just another step towards it.
Gathering his stuff and making it out the door, he made plans to stop downstairs for a cup of hot coffee after a quick shower. Note? What note? It didn't even occur to him to leave one.
