Danny sighed softly as he glanced over at the clock in his SUV, his fingers sliding down the center console to switch the song on his iPod. The Killers. Nice. He knew they had plenty of time to get Lindsay to the train station, but he found himself dreading it. C'mon, she was the only person he really knew well, that was why. Couldn't be because of

She settled in against him and smiled. Lindsay was going to miss him this weekend, sure. But, as a friend. Because there was nothing else between them. Right? "Stay out of trouble while I'm gone, because I don't think Casey'll bail your ass out of jail," she said, poking him in the ribs.

He leaned down to kiss the top of her head. She smelled good, like whatever she normally smelled like and it drove him crazy. In a lover-type way, like it was supposed to, because they slept together. "Trouble? Me?" He pretended to look shocked, his mouth dropping open while he tried to squirm from her fingers. Yeah, he was gonna miss her. "I'll be good. No wild parties."

Lindsay leaned over and kissed his neck, breathing him in for the last time this weekend because she wanted to remember him when she was on the train. "You better behave. You're still on probation. Or something," she smirked. "And I promise not to fall in love with Boston and never come back. I have things here that I'm sort of attached to." Him, for instance.

Danny rested his cheek against Lindsay's hair. He wanted to memorize everything. Don't know why he was being like this, this was totally not him. "Or something. Nice." He smirked at her. "I gotta pick you up Sunday, so.. we'll make sure we're both there."

She shifted, moving her hand to rest on his thigh. "Right. Sunday night, 10:45. Be here, or you're fired," she teased. Lindsay didn't plan on missing her train, no matter how her weekend went. Really, she was half tempted to cancel her trip, but that wouldn't have been appropriate. Because, not dating. And she was dating Mac. She thought. Wasn't really sure anymore. "And I'll have to drag Casey out of her nice warm bed instead, and that'll get the DA pissed at you, which is never a good thing." Why was she rambling? She had nothing to be nervous about. It was a thirty minute train ride. Which was taking her away from Danny, and into Mac's arms.

Swallowing, he glanced down at her hand and smiled. "Fired? Strong words, Monroe. Should I test you on that? Or you gonna call me to remind me?" Maybe she'd have her phone on her. Could text her if he got bored. Not because he missed her though, oh no. He was just really hoping she wasn't going off to meet whoever random flower-guy was. He braked at a red light, tilting Lindsay's chin up to kiss her lips before it could turn green again and teasing. "Breathe between your words."

Lindsay smirked. "Try me, Messer. You'll find yourself without a job come Monday," she joked. She wouldn't really fire him. She'd gotten too used to him being there every day. Well, and the fact that he was the best at what he did. "I can call you. Tear you away from your hot date," she nodded before she kissed him back, sucked on his lower lip before the light changed. "Sorry," she laughed softly.

He smirked, tugging on her hair. "Yeah? So scared, Montana. Shivering in my shoes." He didn't think she'd fire him. Not when he'd been working his ass off to do his best and he'd figured it was paying off in everything but the Ancilla case. "Call me. Whenever. I'll dump my hot date for you." He teased, sucking on his lower lip, wanting to taste her.

"You should be. But, if you were, I'd think it was from the cold," she nodded sagely. "And that's so sweet! To think, you'd leave some cookie-cutter blonde to pick me up at the station," she smirked playfully. "You're only doing it because I'm your boss."

He slid his fingers over her mouth, muffling her voice as he smirked at her. Ouch, and to think he hadn't been out with a blonde in weeks. "They're not all blondes. Dated a brunette once. Only once." He lifted his eyebrow having to take a deep breath to keep from biting her head off. "And how'd you guess? Of course that's why. Haven't you figured out that that's why I've been sleeping with you?"

Lindsay slid away from him, stared out the window with her arms crossed over her chest. "Right. I should have figured, because it couldn't be that you were interested in me." She turned to face him. "Conquest? Or just because you were bored?"

"You've gotta be fucking kiddin' me." Danny sneered, his eyes staring straight ahead even as he felt Lindsay's eyes on him. As soon as it was safe, he pulled the car over, hitting the button for his four-ways and parking, turning to face her, his voice low and angry. "Neither, and you get that through your fuckin' thick skull. If you had been, if, damnit, we wouldn't still be doing this."

Lindsay bit her lip and looked at him, her eyes full of hurt and anger and so many other things. "I . . . damnit, Danny. I am nothing like the people back in New York, if only for the fact that they had almost seven fucking years to get to know you. I've known you since August. So, what? Seven months? No, I don't know you, and I'm not about to pretend I do. Does that mean I don't want to know you? No, because I do. I want to ( ... )

He met her eyes, his own showing hurt, anger, frustration. "Almost seven fucking years and there was only two people who trusted me as much as I trusted them. You understand me?" He swallowed hard, trying to calm his anger, his voice going cold. "You don't want to be compared to all of them, then you stop judging me. My blondes, as you so nicely put it. My past. You wanna be one of my conquests? Fine, you think of yourself that way. But it's never how I thought of you. Never."
He wet his lips, leaning forward. "Yeah, yeah, I'll forget it. Except for the part where I already fucking tried that."
