Change is good

GIVEN that the mainstream, not to mention indie (which is more my literary speed), publishing industry is circling the drain (only a little bit of an exaggeration)

&

GIVEN that there are not enough agents & editors with compatible interests coming to the PNWA conference to justify buying a ticket & spending three miserable, twitchy days there

&

GIVEN that I have tons of energy for performance pieces & not so much for finishing the novel (although I do know exactly where it needs to go now)

&

GIVEN also, of course, that Blue is getting more independent every day & it won't be disastrous to her health if I wander off to a reading for an evening:

I HEREBY DECIDE it is OH. KAY. to change my focus.

THEREFORE:

I am officially focusing primarily on developing a quantum of performance pieces & on checking out the available open mikes & on signing up to perform at said open mikes until I can get some features (after which I'll continue to do open mikes, but also, ya know, features, which means I will be able to do the longer pieces).

Agent --> contract --> mainstream (or indie) publisher is not the only way, or even the best way, nowadays. So why not trope toward strength?
