A brief introduction of the people I am most likely to write about in my LJ:
The Panther: My wonderful wife. She has a cat's sensibilities; loves lounging in a sunbeam, stretching, and getting pampered. One could ask, Why isn't she a Tabby then? (go ahead, I don't mind). The reason my friend is her strength. Beneath her soft skin are muscles of steel, and her ice blue eyes can flash like lightning when provoked...
The Panther by Ogden Nash (one of her favourites)
The panther is like a leopard,
Except it hasn't been peppered.
Should you behold a panther crouch,
Prepare to say Ouch.
Better yet, if called by a panther,
Don't anther.
The Teacher: My wife's close friend. Once they were lovers, but they haven't really stopped loving each other. He makes her happy, and that makes me happy. Is that so wrong?
The Gamers: I play D&D with the folks below:
The SOB: Husband of the pixie. An arrogant SOB, just like me :) Quick with sarcasm, and quicker with a smile, he's a former Model, and would have been in the Calgary Olympics if not for an injury. The SOB coaches Saskatchewan in our CFL Simulation League.
The Pixie: Wife to the SOB. She has wisdom beyond her years, but the exuberance of a child. The SOB is a lucky man.
SpiderGuy: Award winning photographer and armchair entomology buff. Loves CFL, statistics, and his wifey. (who is not listed here, as alas, I don't know her well enough). He's the Commish of our CFL simulation league, and the coach of the Ottawa team. He's also IBM WebSphere certified, which I think is cool beyond words.
The Mountain: Ok, maybe he's not _that_ big, but I'm only 5'5" or so. He's almost a foot taller than I and close to 300 pounds. He's playing a Half-Ork barbarian, but fortunately he's very amiable in real life. He and his wife also are into Magic: The Gathering CCG, which I don't get to do as much as I'd like to.
The Victim: The Mountain's wifey. I usually try to kill her in D&D, it's just seemed to have become a running gag. When not attempting to assassinate each other, we are usually flirting. (go figure)
Old Soul: Our fearless DM. I dabbled in Buddhism, and while I don't practice faithfully there are some things I hold on to. He is the phrase "this too shall pass" personified. It may come from his love of Monty Python, laughter does cure all.
Me: Look, if you don't know me, at least a little bit already why are you reading this??? Well if that hasn't put you off, the only thing I can say,is one of my favourite quotes from Robert Jordan (author of the Wheel of Time Series):
"Read and Find Out!" :)
