**This is the story of Mary Magdalene set in the modern day.**
"Josh isn't about rules and religion," Brad explained. "He just wants people to have a relationship with God."
"Every time that man speaks, he changes my life."
Her body felt brittle, as if it might crack. Or break. Or shatter.
He could've been anybody. The son of anybody.
You know better than anyone how much I wish I could change my past. But I can't. So I'm doing what it takes to change my present and my future.
"You haven't told anybody, have you?" "I told you," Maggie answered softly.
But maybe she did feel him, or the memory of him.
On the other hand, Maggie thought, maybe what she was feeling wasn't Chance. It was his absence.
She was convinced that there were people in the world who would believe anything, and people who believed nothing.
She wondered if Josh could see past who Pete was and envision who he could be.
They're fine. They're more than fine. I saw love there. And happiness. I'm sure there must have been sadness there, too. But that's everywhere.
It was amazing how easy it was to forget some things, and how impossible to forget others.
It was Josh's voice--loud, strong, authoritative. She'd missed that voice. It sounded like home.
Pete shouted at Josh, "Go? Where would we go? You're the only one offering eternal life."
Now you have another chance to trust me.
