Because my new lap sucks and makes this mun want to snatch the old one away from her father. :/ ))It had been a rather normal morning for Iroh; well, as normal as it could get on Luceti. The only different thing he had noticed about this particular morning was the no one had decided to drop by his store for a cup of ( Read more... )

Aang heard footsteps and took a short jump back, putting his arm in front of Zuko protectively. The other boy's paranoid attitude had him feeling jumpy. He immediately remembered his manners, though, and tried to assume a more neutral position.

"Um..." he said, trailing off out of nervousness. "Um, excuse me, my name is Aang and this is my friend Zuko. Can you tell us where we are?"

Zuko heard the footsteps too, taking a defensive position as they waited for the stranger to show up. But when he saw who was it he blinked and tilted his head to the side, a wide smile forming on his lips almost immediately. "Uncle!" He cried happily as he ran towards the older man, hugging his legs, ignoring the other boy for a moment. "Uncle, I'm so happy to see you! I thought I was kid- kipdaped! Where is this place? Is it on the Earth Kingdom? How did we get here anyway? Did you know there are still air nomads around?! Aang is one! Why is your hair all gray now? Where is Mother? And Azula? Did they come too?"

Iroh was still shocked by the change his nephew and Aang had went through. It quickly clicked on his mind that this probably was another of the Malnosso's doings. At least it wasn't too bad nor they seemed to have hurt his nephew again.

He smiled warmly down at Zuko, instinctively kneeling down to get at his eye level. "My hair is all gray because old people gets it's hair bleached." He started explaining, winking at his nephew. "And I'm afraid I'm the only one here; your mother hasn't arrived yet, nor your sister." He sighed. Well, now the next part was going to be rather difficult to explain. "This place is called Luceti, and as for how we ended here... Well, that's another story; but please do keep in mind that you're safe here." He looked at Aang and offered him a warm smile as well. "But now, aren't you hungry? I'm sure your little tummies might be grumbling by now, sleepy heads." He said playfully and poked at his nephew's stomach as in to prove his point.

...Aang decided that he liked Zuko's uncle. He smiled. Something about the old man reminded him of Gyatso - even if he had told that goofy lie about the air nomads running away or whatever.

"I want some juice and a fruit pie!" he chirped, and then corrected himself. "I mean, um, yes, sir," he said more respectfully.

Zuko had let out a chuckle at the poking, wrinkling his nose a little. "I wake up very early!" He said in a slight defensive mode but not sounding like he really meant it.

The mention of his mother not being there somewhat made him sad, but he accepted smiling the idea of breakfast. "Okay!" He said before suddenly remembering something. "Uncle, Aang and I have wings now! Why's that? Do you have wings too?"

Oh dear. "We have wings now because it's part of a festival from this place!" He said, sounding mostly convincing and not too rushed as if he had just thought about it. He pointed at his own set off wings. "Aren't them nice? Everyone here has different colors!" He let out a chuckle and stood up.

"And you don't need to be too formal with me, Aang. you can call me uncle Iroh too." He winked at him before turning around. "Now, please follow me."

Aang followed Uncle Iroh, practically hopping, excitement beginning to lighten his steps. With Aang, the phrase 'bouncing off the walls' wasn't necessarily just an expression. As they were walking, he turned to Zuko with a huge smile.

"I like this festival~" he said cheerfully.

Zuko smiled back, looking just as cheerful as the other boy. "Me too! I've seen the summer festivals of the Fire Nation but this one is way more neat!" He announced, his wings flapping contently. "Did you had festivals too? I mean, the Air Nomads?" He asked curiously.

"Uhhh... kinda, but not great big ones like the Fire Nation or Luc-Luc-e...this place. 'cause nomads, you know, we move around a lot - except at the temples, but other people don't come there. We have smaller festivals. Mostly with airball and baking and sometimes, bison races and stuff. I haven't been to the Fire Nation during the summer festival but I wanna go some day, when I'm older," Aang rambled. He was only half-watching where he was going, practically skipping alongside his new friend.

At this point, Zuko was totally convinced that he liked this boy. He had never met anyone like him before, he seemed more outgoing and didn't act all polite or reserved or altive like most of the kids that attended to the academy with him. They never talked as much. The only people whom Zuko could talk openly was with his mother and uncle. He was reluctant to talk too much with Azula because she always told lies and liked mocking him; and he was almost scare to talk in the presence of his father, not to mention his grandfather: the Fire Lord.

"I would like to go to those festivals too." He decided outloud as he heard Aang explaining said festivals. "Maybe I can invite you over to my house someday! I'm sure Mother won't mind. So you can see the Summer festival! And then maybe you can invite me over to your place too." He said hopefully.

"That would be GREAT!" Aang exclaimed, punctuating his opinion with a little leap into the air. "We could wear those masks, the ones I see them selling sometimes, and I've heard fire flakes are really spicy... I bet we could have so much fun. And the firebending shows, oh! and maybe the dragons...!"

Aang zipped around, arms spread, doing his impression of a dragon. He had only seen a few in his lifetime, but they were beautiful.

Zuko let out a small chuckle. "Yes! Mother lets me buy some of those masks sometimes, they're really fun to wear! And the dancers do some real neat movements. Mother can dance too, and she looks really pretty when she does but it's a secret. And the flakes are spicy! But you get used to them after some time." He nodded. "Ooh, I've seen the fire dragons the Fire Masters do! they're really cool, they almost look alive." He added rather proudly.

"Well... I mean, the real dragons! I dunno if they're at all of the festivals, but the Solstice festival... I bet they're there then. Unless they don't like the crowds. I don't know. The ones I saw were when I was with Monk Qiran, come to think of it, there weren't many people around, but I just kinda thought they'd be at the festivals..." Aang trailed off thoughtfully.

Zuko raised an eyebrow. "There are no real dragons alive anymore." He said in a 'duh' tone. "And even if they would be, I doubt they would show up at the festivals." His tone was a little thoughtful. If dragons showed up at the festivals people would be too busy fighting them to gain honor rather than celebrating.

Aang frowned, brow furrowing in irritation.

"But there are dragons. I've seen them. There're lots of dragons... just 'cause you haven't seen them doesn't mean that they're not there. You were wrong about the air nomads, right?"

"But Uncle said he faced the last one and finished it off." He frowned too, now turning to his uncle. "Right? You tell him, uncle!"
