APPEAL
After the SCSB’s decision from 9/23/07, I am appealing the following accusations against me. I was found:
RESPONSIBLE for:
-Underage possession and/or consumption of alcohol
-Violation of policies adopted in accordance with approved College
procedures or published by College offices and departments
There are several reasons that I cannot be found guilty:
1) I DO NOT DRINK for personal reasons. Not that it’s any of your business, but I haven’t had anything to drink on campus NOR off campus-ever. I am also not 21 and therefore I CANNOT buy alcohol.
2) I was UPSTAIRS, IN my dorm room with the door CLOSED getting ready to go out and have fun (NOT drink), and DID NOT know that Claudia even stopped by or dropped off any kind of alcohol. How can I be blamed for what I didn’t know?
3) Supposedly there was more alcohol confiscated from our suite. I don’t know where any of that came from. I have my own refrigerator, and quite honestly, I have never even opened the large communal one in the lounge downstairs.
4) Andrea, Sara, and I walked down the stairs and there was this guy just staying in our doorway staring at us. We were taking a couple pictures and about to walk through the door when all of a sudden, he asks us if we lived here, how old we were, if any of it was our alcohol (which of course, it wasn’t) and NEVER announced who he was. Then two RA.s I’m guessing, came in and start talking with us too. We still don’t even know how he got in our suite. That is a “clerical or procedural error”-the fact that he didn’t announce he was security and just barged in. Also, the “security guard” could not prove we were drinking (even though we WERE NOT). He didn’t have a breathalyzer to test our supposed intoxication levels.
This whole ordeal has been so unfair and a big waste of my time. The people that are innocent should not get blamed for what we did not even know about. Sara and I live on the second level; Holly (who mentioned knowing alcohol was there) lives downstairs-she probably did know about it like she said. I am always either in class, at work, at play practice, church, or up in my room doing my homework like a good student with the door closed. It is not my fault whatsoever that I was placed in this suite where people might bring alcohol over. This is why I am here-to learn, not drink and party. My parents will also be calling. I’m sure you can look forward to that.
Sincerely,
Hilary Mueller
