She is there, sitting on the edge of the bed, a book in her hand. She glances up at him as he walks in, smiling softly. "Hey."

"Hey," he says quietly, still not opening his eyes.

He doesn't want to look at her yet.

She sets the book down, on the table, and watches him for a minute, before glancing back down at her hands. She...doesn't know what to say now.

"When are you going home?"

He still doesn't open his eyes.

She looks up sharply. And then stands. "Er, whenever you want me to."

He finally looks at her and it makes him hesitate, makes him pause a second to watch her.

"...just when you feel like it," he says quietly. "I'm not gonna make you or anything."

"I'll leave." She nods, deciding because of the look on his face. "I can leave tonight even."

He shakes his head, but doesn't argue out loud. He's not sure how genuine it would be.

"But when you come back? Cause you will, eventually. What're you gonna do then?"

"I don't have to come back." Inyri mutters, grabbing some of her stuff that had been left lying around. "And if I ever do, then I'll do fine on my own. I always do, eventually."

"Can't always stop it," he points out.

He frowns and shakes his head again, shoving his hands in his pockets.

"No, you don't. You haven't done so far, and all of that -- I wouldn't count it as fine, 'Nyri."

He doesn't mean to sound quite so annoyed.

"I said eventually, Wes." She snaps. "What's up with you? What happened? Why are you doing this?!"

"Eventually's just a stupid abstract concept," he shoots back, "it doesn't matter now."

He closes his eyes again for a moment, and kicks the door just a little with his heel before stepping away from it.

"Nothing, it doesn't matter," he lies. "I just want to know when you're going to be fine."

"Liar," Inyri snarls, turning on him and walking up to him and poking him in the chest. "Don't kriffing lie to me, Wes."

He grabs her hand to stop her doing it again, trying (and failing) not to glare at her.

"I'll lie to you if I want. I told you, it doesn't matter, it's--" He snorts. "It's not important."

She wrenches her hand away from his. "Move."

Wes laughs, a little, and crosses his arms.

"No. Tell me when eventually's gonna be."
