[OOC] 1920's AU History

May 02, 2011 04:08

Seiji's AU history resembles his canon one closely, which can be read here. It differs in the following points:
  • Seiji and Namie's parents emigrated from Japan and "raised" their children in game world.
  • Their parents didn't run their branch of Yagiri Pharmaceuticals from the get-go. Instead, their paternal uncle ran the original facility, and he and their parents struck a deal to have them run his new branch.
  • Namie began working in the family branch officially as an intern at age eighteen, though she was groomed to inherit it at around fifteen in case something disastrous should happen to the branch. It was an unconventional decision since few women were in such high-ranking positions -- their mother worked as an assistant to rather than an equal partner with their father -- but with Seiji being nine years younger than his older sister, waiting until he was old enough to learn the ropes seemed too risky. Good on their part, because like in canon, they screwed up royally and were basically shamed out of the company. Namie became the new president of the facility at age twenty-one.
  • After their ouster, Seiji and Namie's parents took jobs out of town and continued to support their children financially from afar.
  • Their uncle began considering merging Yagiri Pharmaceuticals with Nebula among other companies around the time Namie came to power. That and her parents' dishonor drove her to succeed at all costs. Which, again like in canon, led to her staff kidnapping indigents and immigrants for experimentation, only in this AU it was to find cures to diseases of the time, such as polio.
  • Fast-forward two years. Instead of a gang headed by Mikado, Nebula discovered her illegal experimentation. During a meeting, Nebula's president told Namie they knew and would alert the authorities unless she allowed Yagiri Pharmaceuticals to merge with his company. She basically told him to dream on. Nebula's president lulled her into a false sense of security by seemingly not following through with telling authorities. Instead, he contacted his Yakuza connections to threaten her life if she didn't allow the merger, this instead forcing Namie on a lam. Since her branch of Yagiri Pharmaceuticals no longer had an acting president and the bad reputation her parents earned it was affecting the head branch's business, her uncle went through with the merger, not knowing of the illegal means Nebula went to facilitate it.
  • At fourteen, Seiji was left alone, neither he nor his parents in the know of Namie's reasons for running away. Though his parents were still sending him money, he decided to look for work to earn the rest of his keep. Namie was the siblings' breadwinner, and without her living expenses were a bit tight. He took a few odd jobs, a year later coming upon one as an assistant to Theodore "The Doctor" Ashbury. Despite Seiji's young age, he was encouraged to study medical textbooks by his parents and sister and occasionally visited the family branch to observe its work, making him surprisingly knowledgeable in medicine. He still had much to learn, which he did on the job. Recently, Seiji was placed with Tsuyanoshi Sawada's Vongola organization as an in-office medical technician while still under contract with The Doctor. He was required to report to him weekly and to notify him should any of the Vongola employees or clients come down with more serious, life-threatening illnesses or injuries.
  • Sometime between being employed by The Doctor and now, he met Meryl Silverburgh, who was on a case for the FBI. They've since become a couple and continue to make people uneasy with their public, hardly subtle displays of affection. The 1920's are prude times, at least on the surface.
