We Can Live Beside the Ocean, Leave the World Behind

I have started a summer pattern of just kind of drifting from friend's place to friend's place. It is at least satiating my wanderlust for now, though of course I have wild notions of journeying away and going to go stare at the other ocean for a bit, maybe meeting some strangers who have no idea of who I am and what I am about. There's something romantic in that notion, even as I realize that the ideals are not the same as reality. At least the wandering around a couple different states is helping a little. I at least feel less trapped, even if for a small bit. It is being able to claim these small moments that remind me that my mind still is able to grab some peace.

I've been delving more and more into the Dresden Files. I have been into them for a while, but there have been a few Dresden tabletops run which means I got to create a character that operates within their universe. I kind of love the fact that tabeltops like this are totally like fanfiction, but the people who I play with think they are too cool for fandom in general. They like to criticize without fully realizing what they are doing.

I have been writing a lot, but I will make a separate post for that. I'll just pool them all together in the next day or so to avoid flooding everyone's pages with all of my posts.

Also on a completely unrelated note The Ultimate Spider-man cartoon is surprisingly good. Spider-man has a nice amount of wit and there are frequent cameos from people like Hawkeye, Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, and Thor. The standard team has Luke Cage, Spider-Man, White Tiger, Nova and Iron Fist. I love the fact that Peter Parker fangirls hardcore for Tony Stark and that Spider-Man and the Hulk are smashing partners. I also love the fact that Coulson is dating Aunt May, who is much younger in this version of the cartoon. There's even a few episodes where Loki steps in and causes trouble, like an adorable version where all of them become big-headed baby superheroes for most of the episode.
