Some thoughts in no particular order:
-I have been thinking about Thor/Asgard. I noticed that a lot of their clothes are made out of metal and leather. I started supposing that was because they come from such a war-hungry society. When you are always preparing for war your clothes begin to look more and more like armor so that you will always be ready when it comes for you. Even though they seem to be safe in the golden halls they still always prepare like Frost Giants or dwarves or dark elves or any one of the many enemies they have are going to storm their halls. So they always dress a bit like they are in armor.
- People always say that people were a lot more polite in medieval times. Well, no shit they were. The nobles of the land could basically do whatever they wanted with you so you had to be polite to them. I would much rather bow than be stabbed for addressing someone wrongly. If you were lucky enough to be a noble if you said the wrong thing to the wrong person they could legally stab you to death in the name of honor in some places, if you weren't in one of those places then maybe they would just wage war and try to take all of your belongings, family, and followers. I mean they had a bunch of armies and nothing to do with them, both the armies and the lords were only too eager to flex their might. So with all that death hanging over your head, no shit you are going to be polite to people.
-Seriously addicted to the songs "Death" by White Lies and "Psycho Love" by Skid Row right now. They are so catchy and very cut-throat and grim.
-And now I will step up on my soap box for a little bit, spurred a few of my acquaintances and how they treat their mental diseases. You are not your mental disease. You may have many diseases, you may have one, you may have none. That does not make you who you are. I get that during an active stage you may lose weeks or months of your life, sometimes years in some cases. But you get to choose how you handle all of that stimuli and emotions heading your way, your disease does not make you act a certain way as evidenced by the fact that people can go through the same disease and the same stimuli and behave very differently. So you can't blame the fact that you can't talk to people in a mature fashion on "your are depressed and have dyslexia" or you can't say "well I can't be expected to know how to feed myself because I have ADHD." Sorry, but everyone has issues wrong with them, you are still expected to maintain a semblance of a life of your own and be able to care for yourself. Now I am more than willing to be compassionate if you are active in your disease, I know through so many of my friends and personal experience just how hard a disease can make your life. Sometimes doing simple tasks can be a major accomplishment when you are battling your own personal demons. Likewise I am also willing to give extra time to understand things to people with social learning disabilities to the extreme. But after a while some people just use their disease like a crutch. You can't write off every problem as your disease, nor can you expect the world and society to stop for you because you are in pain. Sometimes it will take you a shit ton more time to do simple tasks, you will have to struggle with things that come easily and naturally to other people, you will need to do double the work for no extra credit. Such is life and you need to take responsibility for your own life, stop using a disease as an excuse not to better yourself and try to become more independent.
