"Like the Soul we will live to rise"

Saw some of the extended scenes for the Avengers.

The blood dripping off Thor's hammer in Maria Hill's memory really caught me. So often do we see the violence in the movie that you become desensitized to it, but it made the violence feel more real. I liek the opening they chose, but I can see the merit in this one. It makes the whole movie feel more foreboding at that point and I think there would have been more of an edge of dred, of waiting for the heroes to fall if they had used this beginning.

I like what the scenes show of Maria Hill, particularly the ending with the higher ups. She shuts them down and is badass. Also, curiously, Loki didn't have his muzzle in this ending. I wonder why they changed that. I like the ending they gave for the movie though that left it more open ended and allowed me to think that maybe some of the Avengers stuck around each other for a bit. Hey, I can hope, can't I?

The ending line in the Bruce scene really pulled it together for me. I feel like it should have been left in, even though it was a small scene. It really shows how like other people he is.

The scene of Loki and Clint I think said a lot about who Clint was and explained a lot about how Loki knew what he knew about everyone. I really like the scene, plus it actually gave Clint a lot of room to actually interact.

Likewise I loved Steve's scene. It played very much upon the fact that he had just undergone a massive time jump and made you feel a bit of sympathy for Captain America. He still loves Peggy which makes me smile. I get that it would have slowed the movie pace down a lot to have it included in, but I feel like the movie as it is did not really play strongly upon Steve's time jump. Also seeing Stan Lee again was grand.
