the real issue though, of course, is rising gas prices

so. if hurricane katrina hit the hamptons, would there still be stranded families on rooftops? would evacuees be waiting hours and days with no food or water for busses to get them out? a lot of fucking tv stations are claiming new orleans is an 'abandoned city.' yeah, in more ways than one. this disaster IN NO WAY should be turned into a politicized event yet-- i'm not looking at this as another way to discredit bush, there are more important issues at the moment. however, the lack of concern, resources, and help is fucking blatantly racist. last night on cnn, one government official even claimed, 'why should new orleans even be rebuilt? what's the point? look at what's going on down there.'

nobody ignored 9/11. when blocks of nyc came down it didn't take six days to get enough help. president bush didn't wait to make statements or take action. what's the difference? does it take a certain income level to become a legitimate victim now..?
