Finals are going well.  So far, two As and a P.  So if all goes as I predict, I will have another A, and two Bs which gives me a 3.6, which I am happy with.

Wil Wheaton is a former cast member of Star Trek and I found his blog a few months back, and I check it everyday.  He is a really good writer, and writes a lot about family, pop culture, and technology, so I find his blogs to be quite interesting.  He also writes a weekly editorial for suicidegirls.com called Geek in Review.  This week it is about kids constantly being glued to games or movies.

EXACTLY!  I mean, I watched a good bit of movies and played games as a kid, but I also read a lot.  A LOT.  And usually outside under a tree or something.  I've seen kids FREAK OUT at Blockbuster because we don't have a particular movie in stock.  I mean cry like I just killed their mother.  What the hell.  How can that be the most important thing in the world to a kid?  Also, parents are extremely lazy nowadays.  I mean, kids are so freaking spoiled it is unreal.  I get kids all of the time who scream when I have to take the movie or candy from them to scan it.  TO SCAN IT!  That is all of five seconds.  No matter how much mommy goes, "She's gonna give it right back," they keep screaming.  My mom would have slapped me so hard that one day, in about 10 years when I am Blockbuster with my kids, my oldest son will suddenly grab his ass in agony.   Seriously.  They get immune to the yelling and knocking stuff over, so they don't care about other people.  We have these candy things that SUCK.  It is like a bunch of tiny round candies in a round ball, and when you press a button, they pop all over like Bingo balls.  It is loud and obnoxious, and kids do it CONSTANTLY.  Their parents say NOTHING!   They just let them keep doing it while my mind screams at me to throw a movie and knock the kid out.

I've had several parenting rants before here on LJ.  But I am so sick of kids nowadays.  I know every generation says that, but seriously, it is getting so much worse.  Kids are growing up with this sense of entitlement, so we get these kids that grow up to be adults that can't handle anything because they were never taught to fend for themselves.  There is no pride anymore.  Nobody has pride in their work, so they very few of us that have a good work ethic have to work even harder to take up the slack for those who get paid the same amount, yet don't do the work.  Yeah, it takes me 30 minutes to straighten the wall.  Why?  Because I do it PROPERLY.  Because it is my job to do it properly, and I don't things sub-par.  Like in the movie Take the Lead.  For those who haven't seen it, a dance instructor goes into a poor school and gives the kids in detention dance lessons which they rage against cause they are just so damn cool.  Anyway, there is a scene where a girl from the instructor's real dance school dances for them, and there is a line like, "Why you showin' us what they can do when their parents paid for them to get lessons."  What the hell.  You are angry at this guy who is giving you FREE lessons that you keep pushing against and your reasoning is because there are these people whose parents paid for their lessons?  How does that even make sense?

Oh, frustration.  I really feel blessed to be growing up in a generation of free(r) thinkers and awesome technological advances, but I also sometimes hate my generation.   The great majority are lazy and really freaking annoying.  They like crap music and think not speaking correct English is cool.  Pull up your damn pants.   They are apathetic to the point of being amoebas and it can't be a good indication of the future.
