happy things, lately

Things have been pretty kick ass lately.

My brother graduated from college on Sunday, and my sister is visiting from California for the week, so we've been doing a lot of fun family things.

Yesterday we went to the Cape. It was cloudy, so we didn't go to the beach, but we went to Cape Cod Beer to try out some local brew, and we had fried seafood, and we went mini golfing.

Today my siblings and I went on a tour of Sam Adams and it was AWESOME. We live so close, and I've been to so many other breweries, I don't know why it took me so long to go there. The tour was super informational, I actually learned a lot about beer making. But our guide was also hilarious, so it was really entertaining. And then of course we got to sample some delicious beer. Sam Adams is definitely my favorite beer company, they have so many fantastic varieties. Right now it's just the start of Octoberfest season, which is the best couple months of the year (also: PUMPKIN BEER SEASON. I want to try them all). So we drank delicious beer, went to a pub and had more delicious beer, then went to our friends' new place and had a delicious dinner. It was an all around delicious day.

Also, I was in CVS today when a girl stopped me and told me she loved my Ference t-shirt. And then we commiserated about what a fantastic human being he is and how desperately we miss him and how we're going to have to cheer for the Oilers now. It was a very touching moment. B's fans are all family.

I also joined a gym this week, and I'm really liking it. I'd hesitated for a long time, because it was just more convenient to work out at home, and I don't really like sweating in front of other people. But then our ancient elliptical broke and I didn't really have much choice. I joined Planet Fitness because it's right down the street and really cheap, and so far I really like it. The crowd on weekday mornings are mostly older folks and some girls my age, so I don't feel intimidated, or like anyone is paying attention to me sweating my balls off. And I really love having all the weight machines, so I can mix up my usual routine a bit. I prepaid for a whole year because it was a lot cheaper, so now I just have to motivate myself to keep going, even when it gets cold.

Speaking of cold, fall is coming, I can feel it in the evenings now, and I'm so excited. Uuuuugh fall is the best, and hockey is almost back, and everything is beautiful right now.

sometimes i win, fuck yeah massachusetts, boston: great city or greatest city, real life is lame, family times, mmm beer
