The Pens were a hot fucking mess tonight, but it's okay, boys, you'll get it together.
The Sox, on the other hand, were friggin beautiful. Either the Yankees are just plain terrible this season, or we are really awesome, but whatever it is, I'll take it.
But more than their play, I'm happy to see signs of a change in attitude. Tonight my boy Middlebrooks hit a pop fly that got caught in the warning track, which is always disappointing. But when he got back to the dugout everyone was giving him high fives and ruffling his hair (so jealous) and they were all laughing and smiling and I was SO HAPPY, I CAN'T DESCRIBE. Because a major problem of ours last season (besides the lack of pitching talent) was a lack of cohesion and chemistry. But tonight it looked like they were having fun together, even in the freezing cold. Jerry and Don were so befuddled by this whole incident, like, he was out, right? why are they celebrating? BECAUSE THEY'RE PERFECT, THAT'S WHY. Maybe they'll actually play like a team this year. I want that even more than the W's.
As further evidence of their perfection, they've been teasing and gushing about each other all over twitter lately, I just can't. I've never thought much about baseball bromances, but hockey has totally corrupted my mind, and now I'm seeing them everywheeeeere (this may require a detailed picspam at a later date, largely involving Middlebrooks and Aviles and how heartbroken I am that they're no longer on the same team, and yet still find time to flirt tease each other on twitter, what even)
Also, one of the NESN camera crew obviously has an epic crush on Middlebrooks, because EVERY TIME they showed a shot of the dugout, it was following him, for way longer than necessary. I APPROVE OF THIS, NESN. Keep up the quality work.
(sorry, guys, I'm not going to update you every single time the Sox play, but I'm still just so excited to have baseball back, I can't keep it to myself)
