kindle upgrade?
I need to geek out about this here, because none of my friends or family care about e-readers.

So I've had a Kindle Keyboard 3G for just shy of 2 years, and I love it. It's easily one of my favorite things I own. That thing comes just about everywhere with me, and has improved my discreet access to trashy romance novels 1000%, bless it.
But now the Kindle Paperwhite is out and OMG I WANT IT. Look how shiny and pretty it is! Look at the screen light! That is one of my only complaints about my model. I have a case with a built in light, but it drains the battery power very quickly, and basically works about as well as those little battery booklights; adequate, not great. AND IT'S A TOUCH SCREEN, while my model has the keyboard and toggles. Just imagine, tapping on a word to get the definition instead of toggling through the whole page! *nerdgasm* I didn't even consider upgrading to the newer touch models when that was the only big change, but NOW. Now I want iiiiiiiiiit.
But it seems silly to upgrade a device that is still in perfect working order. I mean, I have a 3 year old non-smart phone, a 4 year old laptop, and a 6 year old non-touch-screen ipod. Upgrading to the latest technology isn't exactly my thing. If it aint broke, don't replace it. BUT I WANT THIS NEW KINDLE. I DO. I don't know what I would do with my old one, though. My sister already has a kindle, my mom has the fire, and my brother wouldn't want it. I would feel so wasteful, having a perfectly functioning thing just lying around, collecting dust. I suppose I could sell it, but that just seems heartless. We've gone a lot of places together, Biblioteca and I.
Also, I most definitely do not have $119-179 just lying around to spend on non-essentials. Maaaaaybe if I got some money for Christmas? Or next year's tax returns? In any case, a long while.
anyway, that was just a lot of me trying to reason with myself. But is anyone planning to get one? Will you tell me how amazing it is? Should I just stop being greedy and appreciate the one I have, functioning but non-backlit screen and all? sigh.
I should stop obsessing and get to sleep. Tomorrow (today?) is my day off, and I'm going into the city to hang out with my siblings :D
