have some random
-so I'm still fixing up that fic I meant to post yesterday. It needs some re-writing, but I am lazy as hell today. tomorrow! ...maybe.
-I've spent the last two days reading the first two books of the Scarlet and the White Wolf Trilogy. it took me a while to get into the first book (since the main characters don't even meet till a few chapters in), but now I'm hooked. and they're quick, easy reads (a couple hours each), so I'm gonna finish the last one tomorrow. and then I'll get back to that long summer reading list I already made. whoops.
-tomorrow is my last day of work at the school office! which is exciting because, well, I don't exactly love it. but it's also daunting because now I have to go out and find another job back home. and I have no fucking clue where to start.
my 2 bosses are taking me out to lunch tomorrow, which is going to be so fucking awkward, but you can't exactly say no. my people skills, guys, they are non-existent. especially with authority figures. I just clam up. blaargh. you are lucky you know me online.
-I have a new rpf fic idea that I'm really excited about! I may even make it my bb story, since it has the potential to be very long, and very angst-ridden. (and it won't involve character death, I've decided). it's based pretty loosely on the manga Solanin (anyone read it? omg), about those post-college years when you're trying to figure out what being an adult and living in the real world means (which hits pretty close to home for me right now). I've got an outline, and I'm excited to sink my teeth into it.
-PZ Myers is speaking at my university, NEXT SATURDAY. WHEN I WILL ALREADY BE BACK IN MASSACHUSETTS. WTFFFFF. why did no one tell me about this before? that's probably the coolest thing to happen at AU in my two years here. (he's a scientist and outspoken atheist, btw. his blog Pharyngula is one of my favorites). DAMMIT.
-I'm retaking my Spanish exam on June 24th. which means I have to fly back to DC for a day or two. if anyone is going to be in the area (or wants to come down and make a party of it), let me know. because I'm definitely going to need more alcohol after this, and I know a great place for margaritas.
