I think I need a wedding icon...

Today, me, mum and sis had a makeup trial for the wedding.  I was kind of half looking forward to it and half dreading it.  I'm not very good at being in close physical contact with people I don't know well but the makeup lady was really nice and put me at my ease.  Also, I watched her work on the bride first so I knew it wasn't going to be too awful.  Sis is having the full works done including lash inserts.  I didn't realise that they have to be stuck on individually with tweezers.  You need a really steady hand to do that.  She looked fabulous when she was done.  Sis has big blue eyes anyway and they looked enormous with lash inserts, a thick line of eyeliner and lots of mascara.  It almost looked like she was wearing coloured contact lenses.  My look was lighter and more earthy.  I'm not very good at doing my own makeup but I tend to go for harsh eyes, lots of blusher and plain lips.  For the wedding I'm having browny gold eyeshadow, brown eyeliner, mascara and dark pink glossy lips.  I didn't think she put on enough mascara but mum and sis said it was fine.  Maybe years of doing goth-like smokey eyes have distorted my view of what constitutes a 'reasonable' amout of mascara!  I haven't used brown eyeshadow for many, many years but I now realise that it really highlights my green eyes.  Also, she did my foundation really well.  I have classic 'combination' skin and very dark circles under my eyes but she made me look positively healthy.  I was impressed.  Starting to worry a bit about having time to get everything done on the morning of the wedding.  Sis' hair and makeup are going to take 3 hours combined and her dress is laced up the back.  That's before we've even considered me and mum and allowing for problems with flowers etc.

Later in the afternoon I went to Kingston to pick up a few bits.  I bought a (very expensive) 'superdry' t-shirt for sis' upcoming birthday and failed to find any jewelry to wear to my friends' wedding next Saturday.  At this late stage, I think I'm going to have to make do with what I have already.  I also bought some prizes for the brownie colouring competition and a new cash box as the current one is much too big.

I'm not sure what I'll be doing for the rest of the Bank Holiday.  I don't think it's going to be very interesting.  I need to balance the Brownie accounts (I've just taken them over and they're in a bit of a muddle) and clean the double doors leading out to my balcony.  Lucky old me!
