I'm in California for the NAMM show, and I've not yet finished the tale of Chile. I'm going to keep it short. Squiggy and I planned to have a pretty low-key evening, but Sebastian couldn't meet us until nearly midnight. So we wound up awaiting him at a somewhat happenin' square surrounded by restaurants and clubs. We had a cheese tray. Sebastian arrived with a rather average-looking guy named Rodrigo, and we went to meet Eugene at some sort of nightclub down the street. Turns out Sebastian and Rodrigo went to college with Eugene and haven't seen him since. This is in a city of like 9 million people. We hang at the fancy club for a bit, I buy a round of drinks, then we head back to the square and go to see live music at a place called Subterraneo or something like that. It was a very large basement below a restaurant. This is where things got a little crazy. Rodrigo is not an average guy. He's pretty crazy. At some point we all take rather large shots of tequila. The world becomes hazy. Squiggy and Rodrigo are snorting salt off of the bar and drinking more tequila. They all want to leave and go somewhere else. I realize that no is not a viable answer, so I pretend to be interested in some tattooed girl that doesn't really exist. Then I bail and take a cab when nobody is looking. Apparently the rest of the night makes for a remarkable tale, but since I wasn't part of it I shan't recount it here!
The rest of Chile was uneventful aside from the dinner Squiggy and I ate on the last night. It was at a remarkable restaurant called Coco. We ate outside because it was booked up, but the weather was nice and the food was awesome. We did also meet with Gonzalo, but his English was a little difficult to understand. We've found it's easier to communicate with him via email.
Apparently being irritated about NAMM makes me change tense while writing. Time for bed.
