this year sucked. but i got sober, which has been the hardest/best thing i've ever done.
next week:
the last past few years i've learned to lessen the agony of extended-family gatherings by heavily sampling my grandmother's endless supply of fine boxed wines; this year instead i will be a neurotic nicotine-gum-chewing mess sneaking out the back door to stand in -10 midwest cold to suck down a few marlboros. oh god....... i can feel my snot freezing already.
