My turn

My friends have already said most of the things I wanted to say, so I'm going to address a couple of different things.
I thought the speeches were wonderful. I thought McCain's concession speech was elegant and I appreciated his impatience with the members of his audience that booed Obama's name and his encouragement of his supporters to work with ( Read more... )

The ABC people were shocked by his tone? I missed that - although I think I was watching MSNBC since our locals were showing more local results. I never thought about it but I thought his tone was perfect! As you said - this wasn't the time for the HA HA HA I WON WOO HOO crap. It was to accept - reach out to the other side and do so with the grace he's shown all along. Perfect in my mind.

I guess I don't remember many presidential acceptance speeches (I would have avoided the most recent examples) but *shrug* I liked it ;)

I also appreciate and believe that he is sincere about working with Barack Obama to fix this country.

So am I. This is the McCain that I used to like, even if I didnt agree with him. Glad he is back.

The ABC commentators were saying that they were surprised by how subdued Obama was when he took the stage for his acceptance speech. I'm not.

Nor am I. Obama just seems to be the kind of guy who does not loose his cool, and last night was no exception.

Won't that be a nice change?

Quite.

I thought it was interesting that there were no balloons, no streamers, no "Hey! Let's Party!".

It was more like, "Okay, people. We need to get to work."

Interesting, but absolutely appropriate, and exactly what I expected from him. :)

For all the time ABC has been covering the election and the candidates, I was surprised at their surprise. Like they haven't been paying attention! LOL! And I didn't find his speech "unexciting" at all. I was excited enough to stay up and watch the whole thing! :D
