rawr.
school is back in full effect-
it's hard to articulate how different my schedule is now that i have less to juggle.
i wasn't sure how living off campus would be, how awkward things would seem, etc-
so far, so good!
i have more time to myself and weekends completely free to do as i please.
it's wonderful, really.
my semester should treat me well.
i have dr. eslinger again this semester [craziest soc. prof. ever!]
and i have a weight training class with crazy matt cheimlejflahf;alsf;ajf;ajf;jski!
i love it.
in regards to dance...
it's time to bring sexy back.
i.e.-GET SERIOUS.
the oireachtas [midwest dance championships] will be here before i know it.
annnnnnd i need to win.
which means LOTS of practice and LOTS of time in the gym.
my dad ended up driving me to my competition in windsor [8/19].
i babysat the night before until 1am, got home just shy of 2
and still had a ton to get ready before leaving @ 6am...
my dad got home around 2:30am to find me polishing my shoes,
asking me how the hell i was planning on waking up in 2 hours to drive
all of the way there and "dominate the competition on no sleep"...
so, he was a trooper and drove me to my first competition after a 5 year break : )
it was cute. he bought a disposable camera and took lots of pictures.
after i finished my first dance, i was bitching about something irrelevant [i'm sure]
and he shut me up and said "kel, it's like you never left..." and he looked like he was going to cry.
it means a lot, coming from the man who drove me to nearly every dance competition accross the country, watched me, gave me pep talks before i danced/before results, supported me in my many victories and even in my lowest moments, made me laugh and kept me going [from 1989-2001].
by the time i finished my set dance [the 3rd of 3 dances],
he had gathered a small group of parents, adult dancers, etc.
that he made friends with at the results table to watch me dance...
SO hilarious.
when i finished 15th at the oireachtas in 2001 [a very disappointing finish to me]
but still pretty good, overall--my dad wrote me a note, saying:
"kel, i know you're upset and that is understandable.
however, i do want you to know that when i looked up at the podium tonight,
i didn't see the other dancers...i saw me and you, kid."
[cute, i know].
soooo-
starting next tuesday, i'll be commuting out to the dance studio 2-3 times per week.
the driving will suck...a lot-
but, i'm hoping the hard work will pay off in the form of the senior ladies championship cup : )
alriiiiight.
that's about it.
come visit our house...
i live in the dining room.
seriously...built in china cabinets-
what more could you ask for !?
we also have really comfy couches!:
kthanks.
[i need to go running]
kbye!
