I'm very glad to find out that you practice what you preach, and I in no way want you to think I disrespect your choices- I actually very much respect them since you are able to back yourself up.
I think that our differences lay between your attachment to God and other authorities such as the church (assuming you hold the church close to you) and my lack of attachment.
“Sex can be and mostly is, for pleasure not procreation” (Manifesta). We are indeed one of the few mammals that have sex just for pleasure.
in Italy they are paying people to have babies, but let's bring up that situation in China where women were forced to only have one child. the one child policy.
I do not feel mothers and their children are victims. First, a child should have the right to be wanted and loved and to be given the maximum opportunity to live a full life. Second, a couple should have the right to have only those children it wants. For a poor couple struggling to take steps toward a better life, the inability to control their fertility may only add to their belief that all efforts to control their future are futile. Third, a woman should have the right to bear only as many children as she believes are consistent with good health, to plan childbearing in a manner less restrictive of other opportunities for her personal growth and contribution to society, and to avoid excessive safety risks in using contraception.
I agree that children should be planned as best you can. There is a thing, church approved, called Natural Family Planning (NFP). It is NOT the rhythym method. It is based on cervical mucous and temperatures and it is 99% accurate when used correctly. The idea is to abstain during fertile periods. But you remain open to life. You put up no barrier. Mother Theresa taught poor women in India to use it and it worked for them. Also there is no risk of stroke or heart attack like in the pill. Some pills are abortifacient. They actually let you conceive and then don't give the fertilized egg a place to implant. Sex is not only for pleasure. It is unitive AND procreative. It is only since Margaret Sanger came up with the idea that we can have sex without conception that that her idea has slowly been embraced. Margaret was into the eugenics movement by the way.
I am pro woman. I believe in women. I believe they are strong. I I believe in teens. I believe that if they had ALL the information, they would make great decisions!
I am aware of Margaret Sanger's activity in the eugenics movement.
NFP is a very good option if you are able to do it, however as you say it is 99% effective, 99. Within that 1% things happen. Some women are unable to keep track of their cycles and temperatures and etc. I am aware you know, but some women are unable to commit so much to that situation.
I am more than aware about the side effects and the process of assorted birth control pills and contraception. I am a VERY avid fighter for more contraception for both men and women. However, the pill being a technical abortion or not- when it is totally acceptable for a young teen to walk around in this society and not be called a slut or a whore or just be looked down upon then maybe they can think about being strong. I just feel it's not that easy. If you want people to go through with their pregnancies at all costs, I think they way the mother is going to feel while carrying is a good factor to introduce.
I never said sex was only for pleasure, I said it mostly was for pleasure in more situations.
