It’s Complicated
Jane Adler/Miranda Priestly
The warm Santa Barbara sun washed over Miranda as she laid on the lounge chair by her pool. A gentle breeze was sending ripples through the pool.

She heard the back door open but made no move to get up. Jane sat down on the chair and leaned down to kiss the white haired woman. “Well, hello there.” Miranda grinned.

“Were you asleep? I’m sorry if I woke you.”

Miranda opened her eyes and slid her sunglasses down onto her face. “You’re not sorry. That was very deliberate.”

Jane laughed. “All right. You’re right.”

Miranda sat up and wrapped her arms around Jane and pulled her into a kiss. Once the kiss broke, she sat back. “What are you wearing?”

“Me?” Jane blinked, looking down at her sweater and slacks. “You picked them out for me.”

Miranda smiled. “I mean, you look like you’re dressed for a cold snap.”

“It is cold.”

“It’s beautiful.” Miranda insisted, indicating her flowy dress. “I have my suit on under this.”

“Your bathing suit?” Jane demanded.

“I don’t think we should get into a So Cal versus Northeast battle… because I always win those…”

“You win those battles… because you start them and I’m a much more graceful ‘loser’ than you are. You pout so much.”

“What are you saying, you’re not going to get into the pool with me?”

“I am absolutely not getting into this pool in early April.”

Miranda smirked. Jane’s eyebrows went up.

“I think we could manage to heat up the pool…”

Doubt
Sister Aloysius/Sister James
The spring wind whipped Sister Aloysius’s habit around; she wrapped her sweater tighter around herself as she walked through the courtyard.

Sister James looked up at her from her reading spot in the sitting room. “Look at you.” She smiled warmly.

Sister Aloysius looked up at toward her bonnet and hair. “I love spring… but it appears that spring doesn’t return the feeling.” Aloysius tucked her hair back into the bonnet and then brushed the flower petals off of her sweater.

“We should take a picnic this weekend.” Sister James closed her book and set it on the table. “I could get a loaf of bread from the bakery and make sandwiches.”

Sister Aloysius smiled. “I would love that.” She reached into her sweater and pulled out a small bouquet of wild flowers.

“Did you pick those?”

“I did.” Aloysius nodded. “Shall I get you a vase?”

“You picked them for me?” Sister James smiled widely.

Aloysius leaned in and stole a chaste kiss. “Of course I did.”

The Closer
Sharon Raydor/Fritz Howard
Sharon hoisted an armload of files and just as she was about to get out the door the desk phone rang. She glanced down at her load and then at the phone and groaned. She set it down and pressed the speaker button.

“Captain Raydor.”

“Hey, it’s me.”

“Oh, Fritz.” She sat down in her chair. “It’s so good to hear your voice.”

“Stressful day?” He chuckled.

“You have no idea.” Sharon admitted.

“Meet me after work and I’ll give you a massage and a happy ending…”

Sharon groaned. “I don’t know when I’m going to get out of here.” She rubbed her eyes tiredly. “It’s spring, all the murderers are coming out of hibernation. Nothing would be make me happier than to just spend the rest of the day languishing in bed with you. Believe me.”

“Play hookie. Come on. Provenza can handle it.”

“Provenza is already out with Patrice and I don’t feel right about asking Andy to cover for me so I can go home and have sex with the man I broke up with him for...”

“You don’t have to tell him why you’re leaving.”

Sharon groaned. “I hate spring.”

“Brenda gets back tomorrow. This is the last chance for a while.”

“I know.” Sharon insisted. “I know that… maybe it’s a sign from the universe that we shouldn’t be doing this.”

“Do you really feel that way?”

“No.” She whispered. “I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

Scott & Bailey
Rachel Bailey/Gill Murray
Spring is a very beautiful time of year. The grass is vibrantly green and springy underfoot. Little plants sprout stubbornly; little buds unfold into delicate flowers. The sky is blue and full of whispy clouds and the sun shines bright and warm.

Even the presence of a corpse isn’t enough to mar the vernal splendor.

“Bloody hell.” Gill rubbed her temple, looking down at the dead body lying in the wild laurel.

“I know, right?” Rachel folded her arms across her chest.

Battlestar Galactica
Bill Adama/Laura Roslin
“So, what’s the landscaping plan for your cabin?” Bill whispered, nuzzling her hair and giving her a little squeeze.

Laura’s body was curled around his, head lying on his shoulder. “I’m glad you asked. I’m going to let the grass grow so long… I’m going to let it grow all the way up to the windows. There are going to be so many trees. In the spring it’ll flower and in the summer it’ll bear fruit.”

“What kind of fruit?”

“Apples. So many apples.” Laura nodded matter-of-factly. “Anders said that the spring was probably going to have heavy rains. Might not be so great for plants.”

“What does he know, he’s a pyramid player.”

“He undergradded in biology.”

“No shit?” Bill nodded.

“Yup. He knows a thing or two about a thing or two, apparently.”

“So, are you going to grow anything else at your cabin…” Bill snickered.

She grinned. “Well, yeah, I think that goes without saying… but, honestly, it grows wild already, I don’t really have to grow it. And it’s already really strong.”

He brought the joint up to his lips and took a deep drag before handing it off to her. She did likewise and then pinched out the end and set it on the blanket beside her.

“It is great.” Bill nodded. “I haven’t been this high in a really long time.”

“I haven’t been this high since…” Laura laughed. “Like, four months ago?”

“Such a rebel.”

Laura sat partially up and swung her leg over his hip, straddling him. “You have no idea.”
