because i think i love animals more than people

Dec 30, 2015 23:17

I'm currently purging my personal hygeine and make-up collection, replacing everything with cruelty free products. Basically, I'm taking animal testing seriously and I"m just not buying things from companies that test on animals. So there are a lot of things I'm sad I won't be buying anymore. Like Maybelline products, and Dove shampoo, and basically every brand that's sold in China because China requires animal testing and companies have the option to not sell in China so essentially they're choosing money over lives.

Almlay, Physicans Formula, Elf, and Milani are the four make-up brands I will be concentrating on now. Almay is technically cruelty free, but it's owned by a parent company that supports animal testing, so every dollar spent on Almay is kind of like a vote towards animal testing, but you could also look at it as a message to the parent company by saying "i'm buying from the cruelty free company and not the others" so it could also count as a vote towards no animal testing. I live in a small town with two places to buy make-up from, so my selection is limited until I can either a) get out of York and/or b) order shit online. So Almay works (I actually love the Almay Wake Up foundation I purchased last week so like 10/10).

The hipster shampoo my mom uses is cruelty free, and also organic, I believe. Maybe even vegan? So I've already found my replacement for Dove. Organix is also good. So basically after all of my current beauty and hygeine products run out, that's the end. No more Urban Decay, no more Revlon, no more Maybelline.

I don't want to sit here and persuade all two people who read my entries. Like, you do you and I'll do me. This is a part of my life and I just want to share it.

HOWEVER

If you are interested, here are a couple of sites that have helped me find out more about animal testing and cruelty free products.

http://www.leapingbunny.org/guide/brands
  • search for cruelty free brands
  • also vegetarian/vegan products

http://www.logicalharmony.net/#axzz3vs88GOyK
  • vegan lifestyle blog with long list of cruelty free brands
  • also other cool things if you're considering going vegan
And the video that kind of more or less kicked my ass into gear, because I'm the worst vegetarian on the planet and this opened my eyes.
