JK Rowling To Discuss 'Potter' On 'The Today Show'

NEW YORK, NY (June 13, 2007) -- Attention muggles!

"Harry Potter" mastermind J.K. Rowling will sit down for an exclusive interview with "The Today Show."

In her only television interview after the highly-anticipated release of the seventh (and final) installment in the "Harry Potter" series, Rowling will speak with Meredith Vieira in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The interview marks the first time Rowling will talk about the worldwide reaction to the final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," which is currently driving "Potter" fans wild with speculation about how it will all end.

Will Harry die? Will Ron and Hermione finally get together? Is Snape truly as evil as he seems? These are just some of the many questions plaguing readers as they wait desperately for the book to hit the stands on July 21.

Vieira and Rowling will explore the "Harry Potter" phenomenon, including Rowling's notable impact on literacy, her readers, and the publishing industry, as well as the inspiration she has given young writers.

But more importantly, the celebrated author will quench readers' insatiable thirst for all things "Potter" -- a fanbase that has known no equal in the world of literature.

The interview will air in three installments the week of the book's release; on Thursday, July 26 and Friday, July 27 and on "Dateline NBC" Sunday, July 29.

Leading up to the interview, fans can participate in a 7-week celebration of the Harry Potter series at harrypotter.todayshow.com. The special section will include the latest news and features about the final book, allow fans to connect with each other, and provide a place for "Today" viewers to show off their love for the hit series.
