You're totally right about the audience. If I could run that show I'd have the ECW events in smaller venues, separate from the Smackdown tapings that they're currently run with, and I wouldn't have it be some kind of Raw Extra type event. The whole reason got such a cult following was that it wasn't like MacMahon's product. It was different.
I think with this title off of RVD they have a great opportunity to do something with the ECW concept now. As per his punishment he'll be off TV for thirty days. That's four weeks to build up his return so that he comes back as a monster babyface, and due to the insane aftermatch trashing of the ring Tuesday night I think they can really work with Heyman/Big Show being heels.
Had this show on Tuesday not been in front of a rabid Philly crowd I don't think it wouldn't have come off nearly as well on TV, but as the fates would have it that's exactly what happened. And since the fans who will see ECW next week, with their family-friendly Smackdown taping, will do as their programmed to do from watching the TV shows... they should follow suit and boo the shit out of Heyman/Big Show.
Now if it were me I'd be thanking the lord above for this rather weird situation, but what I'd imagine will happen will be some kind of Raw-involved continuation story and then more of this COMPLETE LAMENESS OF KELLY KELLY. (Now that girl is gorgeous, and lord only knows what one could do to an ass like that, but if ECW fans wanted to see stripping/porn, they'd get their hands on porn. The whole thing with her is SUCH a waste of time, but apparently Vince is really high on her and that's why she's been taking up so much time on TV as of late... and contributing absolutely NOTHING to the show.)
It kills me that they have Francine and Bill Alphonso signed to deals and neither of them are on TV. The old fans completely remember them and they should have a better chance of getting over as MANAGERS (wow, now THERE's an old concept). I want to see the "manager of champions" come back with RVD and Sabu!! I want to see the "queen of extreme" represent some cocky motherfucking heel. Shit, let her come out with Test... that would at least give us something to look at while 'ol horseface is boring us in the ring.

The vampire shit is lame too. Use this guy in the ring or get him off the show. Does he have to be personally invited in before he can come in? What's the deal? Is this like some lameass Dracula thing? I'd love to see Kevin Fertig on TV, but I want to see it in the ring... not spitting blood at the camera as we look at the marquee. For FOUR WEEKS we've been seeing the SAME OLD SHIT out of him and this Kelly character. Sandman too!
Spring for the fucking Metallica song or at least use the Motorhead cover that was on the original ECW soundtrack CD!! Isn't HHH like bed buddies with Lemmy, anyway? Fuck. Give poor old Jim Fullington a feud though. He's too much fun to just cane zombies and any old other thing that you can stick in front of him week after week. Give him a fucking feud!! Fuck.
Anyway, that's my beef with "the NEW ECW." I haven't given up on it, and I watch it EVERY WEEK, but I just think that they could be doing SO MUCH MORE with it, you know.
