look, i'm not about the whole random replying to people through livejournals but your comment made me reply to it. i do not know you, nor do i want to, but your comment is very ignorant. first off, your comment was non-coherent, nor did it make any sense. personally, i support ward churchill, not necessarily with the analogy he made, but that's all it was. an analogy. there would be no reason to fire a man who is merely stating his opinion. you may disagree with his opinion, but there is no reason for him to be fired. should he be fired for stating an opinion, controversial or not? absolutely not. does his opinion affect his ability to teach? no. it's merely an opinion. and how was there, as you said, "thin line that was holding him back"? what thin line do you speak of? when you've read the whole essay in which churchill used his analogy, you can speak on the issue. until then, you shouldn't just hear the analogy and base your opinion on that.

Yes he was expressing his opinion and thats cool. But it absolutely not ok to push it on other people. He was teaching his students these things, and that is raping someone of their right to an unbiased "sef-made" opinion.
And if this rich yuppie professer has such a problem with america, why is he still making money off of them? Why is he still living here? Do you think in any other country he would be given the right to express his opinion? No. America is one of the only countries in the world that respects the first amendement.
He should be thankful.
