Things I have accomplished since the last post:
-Re-read much of Stephen R. Donaldson's the Gap cycle. Damn, that's some good sci-fi. Why hasn't anyone made a multi-mullion-dollar-budget movie of this yet?
-Played through the entirety of Super Paper Mario on the Wii. The series has been incrementally losing quality with each game; this one was still playable, but the next one probably won't be. I guess there's only so much you can do with the 2D characters in 3D world schtick.
-Reviewed games for the RPG club website. Over the summer, in a fit of productivity, I set up a website for the school's RPG club using google's fine website service. Subsequently, I've been slowly going through every item we have in our library (affectionately know as 'the Hoard') and writing a few words about my thoughts on the stuff. http://sites.google.com/site/ucsdrpg/ -Continued work on my Forgotten Realms Campaign of Epic Proportions. It's going to be epic. I'll blog about it somewhere else, where my players will have less access to it; details later.
-Begun watching Star Trek: the Next Generation with my housemates. We're going to do the whole 7 seasons, beginning to end, over the course of the next couple years. Already, midway into season 1, generally considered the show's worst season, it's two or three shades more watchable than the original series. Mostly this is due to the quality of the acting: Patrick Stewart > William Shatner.
-Built a spacesuit. Long story.
-Recruited new members to the RPG club. Eggs and Orgs, Sixth College's annual attempt to expose Freshman to college clubs went well, and boardgame night went even better (having to try to teach Kill Doctor Lucky to an assortment of Indian and East Asian girls who had never played a boardgame before notwithstanding ).
-Fought the law (the law won).
-Set up my theatre prospects for this quarter. Right now I'm looking at two mini-projects: a student-written play that's going to go up in a couple weeks with minimal rehearsal, and a tongue-in-cheek performance of an adapted Nancy Drew novel sometime around Thanksgiving.
-Attended a pantsless party.
