Its time to go, no more screwing around, no more games, no more subtle hints about anything. Will they understand? They don't know, don't have the first clue about what they've meant to me. We used to be so close, my family, inseparable. Now I know what I have to do, and its for me to do alone. Nobody gets to ride shotgun on my trip to hell.
Still, I have to leave them with something, more then what Wolfram and Hart will be giving them in the morning. Nothing like a form memo to be left behind as my tribute to corporate life. Can't believe I lasted this long here.
To: All Former employees of Angel Investigations.
From: Angel, CEO.
Subject: You're fired.
You all know I'm not one for words. Security will see you out. Also, effective immediately Lilah Morgan will be promoted to CEO.
Packing the weapons and potions I'll need to fight the Senior Partners I head for the elevator, Wes might miss the items I've taken after a while. Hopefully he will have a chance too miss them and I won't end up causing an apocalypse during all of this. Stepping into the elevator I watch the doors shut on the dark lobby. Nobody around, no Harmony with her perky, well perkiness. No big smile from Fred, no serious look to exchange with Wes. My throat closes as I think of Gunn and arguing over who would be taking the axe into battle. No hug from Cordelia...what am I doing? I'm keeping them safe, giving them a chance, giving Connor a chance.
And Buffy... pushing the buttons in the right order the doors open and everything is white. Stepping out I hear a growl in the distance. "Here we go."
