She had been avoiding him, not coming back to her place in his room, because she doesn't know how to tell him the Percivale is gone, and she's ashamed about it; but he's her born-man. She has a responsibility, and she respects him enough that she doesn't want to prove herself untrustworthy to him.

So she comes back as though she'd never been gone, and sits on her tiny couch, fiddling with a radio she picked up somewhere, and waiting for him to address her.
